The East Algoma Community Futures Development Corporation (EACFDC) is a federally supported not-for-profit Community Futures Development Corporation. Governed by a Board of local volunteers, EACFDC supports community economic development by assisting East Algoma communities and entrepreneurs to strengthen and diversify the local economy.

The East Algoma CFDC assists area business with flexible and tailored financing solutions.

We can work with you to custom design a financing solution with payments, schedules and amortization that works for your business.

We fund:

All of our loan products have a current interest rate of 6.5%. Approvals on loans under $25,000 can be done quickly and in-house term loans up to $150,000 (or $300,000 in special circumstances), can be approved in about a month provided that applications and business plans are detailed and complete.

Through our affiliation with several regional CFDCs, we can offer up to $500,000 in term loan financing through the Northeastern Ontario Investment Pool (NEOIP).

We also offer micro-loans in partnership with PARO in the support of their Women’s Lending Circles that operate in our area.

Community Economic Development

The East Algoma CFDC works closely with its regional communities to assess local challenges and to look at new ideas and opportunities that could strengthen their economies.

While keeping in mind the unique circumstances of the local area, we promote Community Economic Development as a community driven process where people plan and act for their future.

We strive to:

  • Establish a realistic vision and positive outlook
  • Identify local issues and strategies to deal with them
  • Motivate and involve others in the community by working in partnership and cooperation
  • Recognize volunteers and their importance to the community

We work with a variety of partners from the public and private sectors on projects or special initiatives in areas such as tourism, entrepreneurship, economic diversification, and community adjustment.
